WORKSHOP OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES

In this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of crisis, trauma, and crisis intervention, and what it means to use a trauma informed approach when interacting with people in the wake of a mass traumatic event.

Also, participants will learn about short term and long-term therapeutic needs that may emerge following a mass traumatic event, and ways to identify a need for, and coordinate the delivery of, collaborative behavioral health services.

Finally, through guided, small group scenario run-throughs, participants will use their new skills to work collaboratively with other Summit County behavioral health providers on how to provide a trauma informed crisis response across multiple mass crisis situations.

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Define crisis, trauma, and crisis intervention.
2. Understand the basics of individual trauma, complex trauma, and collective trauma.
3. Explain and describe ways that collective trauma may show up in the duration, impact, and severity of a collective traumatic event.
4. Distinguish between crisis intervention and clinical services.
5. Identify clinical needs that may arise for those affected by a collective traumatic event.
6. Use Trauma Informed Approach skills and tools when responding to the crisis of a collective traumatic event.

Those who successfully complete this workshop and who are Ohio-licensed counselors or social workers will earn 6 Ohio CSWMFT Board CEs (Social Work & Counseling) upon completion.
